As Vice-President of Product Development for The Indianapolis Star, Kevin Poortinga has the dream job of being the "ideas guy" for the Gannett newspaper. Kevin was recently awarded Gannett's first innovator of the year award, recognition for the success of indymoms.com and other "non-core" products, like neighborhood-level magazines and INtake (a weekly entertainment compact geared toward 25- to 34-year-olds). Before moving to business development, Kevin's career was in newsroom creative direction at The Star, The Times of Northwest Indiana and The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
